Coffee Culture in Fashion Trends & Quirky Apparel
Drinking coffee and style trends have also been present in every generation. Each has its own unique taste and style of self-expression. Previous generations have used it more in the traditional way it was introduced by brewing it and adding milk or cream and sugar. The modern generation’s (Millennials & Gen Z) version of their preference for the drink is coffee is iced coffee. Poured over ice in a tall clear class complete with a straw, a cold brewed version of coffee or espresso shot is splashed on ice cubes and finished off with a milk option often finished with some form of sweetening, which is usually flavoured sweeteners- popularly being vanilla or caramel.
Whereas hot coffee has its own culture with coffee mugs in different sizes, colours, and looks, iced coffee also has its own unique type of cup also. In the kitchen, coffee tumblers have gained mass popularity owing to the unique and funky sizes, styles, and finishes which can be found making iced coffee all the more fun to drink. Many coffee chains offer their own branded and designed versions of iced coffee cups as a part of their product line in their marketing strategy.
Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song, Espresso touched a lot of notes and created a connection with the audience with the mutual love for coffee and reflects on the way coffee culture embraces connection and pleasure when she compares herself to espresso, expressing that just like coffee, she's hard to stop wanting, irresistible- and addictive- all that the elements coffee is associated with.
Thanks to the use of social media platforms, Instagram and TikTok, influencers have further mass popularised coffee for the new generation using rustic, serene, picture-worthy backgrounds, settings, and image placement, making for an aesthetically appeasing scene showing the drink can be consumed in beautiful places enticing others to seek out such locations for the exact same purpose. It’s quite common for young people to seek our trendy and hip cafes and coffee joints to drink their coffee and enjoy and capture the aesthetic vibes of the place, too. Connecting over a cup of coffee still holds the same value it did before, but this time, it shows that it can be enjoyed somewhere very beautiful- and even alone for some well-deserved me time- something that wasn’t a concept earlier in the name of self-care.
Coffee has also become an aesthetic and artistic appeal in pop culture as well which includes fashion. Graphic tees have been a big hit, donning different shades of brown – for pop culture wear.
Shades of brown, different style images of coffee beans, and a variety of different sized and coloured mugs and tumblers have all made their way into fashion and in the wardrobes of many, making coffee-themed graphics and art a super cool thing.
Whatever your taste, coffee works the same as it used to before to give you an energy boost and temporary mental alertness, but now it’s not only cool to drink it, but also super cool to wear some form of expressing love and desirability for the drink. At Quirky Zebra, we understand the love for coffee and its importance in popular fashion wear, so we carry a variety of coffee and iced coffee-themed apparel and homeware items to help you rock it.
